Self tapes and self submissions are the norm these days. It’s very likely that you can book a job without ever stepping into a casting office so your self submissions are more important than ever.
Tip: When you don’t have a reader available or are just plain tired of bothering your friends and family to read for you, pre-record the lines of the other characters on a voice recorder. (If you make your tape on your phone, use a separate recording device) This does take some practice but once you master it, it’s much easier than having to self tape on someone else’s schedule.
In order to be successful at self tapes, you will need some essentials. If casting can’t see or hear you clearly, they may not watch or listen to your submission at all.
