Life off stage

The brainchild of actor/singer Ramona Keller, Life Off Stage was born out of a simple, undeniable truth: A sustainable career in the arts isn’t built in the spotlight—it’s built in the quiet hours between jobs.

The Performance is Only Half the Story

We’ve all been there. The adrenaline of opening night, the electricity of a perfect take, and the deep fulfillment of a standing ovation. We spend our lives training for those moments. We study the craft, we perfect the high notes, and we memorize the lines until they are part of our DNA. But no one really teaches us what to do when the curtain falls.

If you are a singer or actor, you know that it is not unusual to spend more time off stage than on. Very few can be in the entertainment industry fulltime and not everyone is going to become rich and famous and never have to work a regular job again or become an ‘offer only’ star. That is the reason this site was started. Whether you are a part time or full time performer, you have to figure out how to create a life that makes sense financially and professionally.

Off stage will provide resources, ideas, inspiration and insight from auditioning, to things you may experience in everyday life that only someone in the industry would understand.

Why We Started This Mission

For too long, the industry has romanticized the “starving artist” trope. We were told that struggle was a badge of honor and that being “all-in” meant sacrificing our financial stability, our mental health, and our physical well-being.

We saw too many brilliant actors leave the industry because they couldn’t bridge the financial gap between gigs. We saw too many singers lose their spark because the stress of “the hustle” outweighed the joy of the music. We believe there is a better way.

Life Off Stage was started to provide the “missing manual” for the modern performer. We are here to talk about the things they don’t teach you in drama school:

  • Financial Resilience: How to manage irregular income and treat your career like the business it is.
  • Holistic Wellness: Maintaining your body and mind so you’re always “stage-ready.”
  • Career Strategy: Navigating unions, agents, and the evolving landscape of the digital age.

Our Philosophy: You are the CEO of Your Craft

At Life Off Stage, we view every actor and singer as a creative entrepreneur. Your talent is your product, but you are the infrastructure. If the infrastructure isn’t solid, the talent can’t shine.

Everything you do is somehow connected to your craft. Our mission is to empower you with practical resources, grounded advice, and a minimalist approach to career management. We want to help you build a life that is as rich and rewarding as the roles you play. Hopefully you will find something here that you will relate to, that will help you, or inspire you on your journey as an artist. Because the better you take care of your life OFF stage, the better your life ON stage will be.

Welcome to the room where the real work happens!
